During a much-needed plant-fondling trip to Berkeley Hort yesterday, I spied another gorgeous Osteospermum, ‘Nuanza Copper Purple’, in a planter. It’s very reminiscent of ‘Sunny Sheila’ in its jewel-toned color blend and iridescence, but here purple dominates with just a hint of copper. Didn’t take a pic, but here’s a link to a pic. None in stock at B.H. that day, unfortunately, but I’ll keep my eye out for it locally.
When Weeder and I left Sac, it was downright chilly; bizarrely, Berkeley was experiencing a scorcher! Note to Berkeley… we like you better when we need a sweater.

Beautiful photos. Berkeley in a heat spell very unusual being so close to the waters edge. Thanks for the great photo.

Very pretty. I used to have oseospermum on my window planters. I loved looking out from my kitchen window and seeing them. I miss my home in Carmicheal.

Oh, girl, you got to go to Berkeley Hort! Envy, envy! I just moved to Rancho Cordova from 1.5 blocks away from Berkeley Hort, and oh how I miss it!
Have to say, though, I miss the adjacent gourmet ghetto even more (Magnani’s Poultry, Country Cheese Coffee Shop, Monterey Market, Monterey Fish)
In case you’re into chocolate and haven’t discovered it, Country Cheese has the best collection of chocolate I think I’ve ever seen. Nine varieties of Michel Cluizel, and that barely scratches the surface.
On your next trip to BH, you might want to check it out.
I love African daisies for the bright assortment of colors and hope to have some for my balcony this summer.
Max,
Thanks ever so much for the chocolate tip. I’m a total foodie and chocoholic and will add Country Cheese, etc. to my list.
Berkeley to Rancho Cordova. How’s that going? Yelp.com will help you find your way if you’re new to the area. Hey, at least now you can find parking, right? No earthquakes either. 😉
Your old hood is most akin to midtown, East Sac., Land Park and Curtis Park.
