You were my constant companion in the garden for the last decade. I could always count on you to jump on my back whenever I bent over to pull a weed… you kneeded my soft flesh with your sharp claws while I “relaxed” in the hammock… you slept in my birdbath and flower pots and window boxes… you tormented the dogs… and you made me laugh. You will be missed.
What a sweet kitty! I love how she frolicked!
The picture in the flower box are just so funny/sweet. She looks like a very sweet cat, and very happy!
How old was she? I hope she died in a peaceful quick way.
She was around 10. My other cat is 20 and still kicking. Emily got cancer and had to be euthanized a couple days ago because eating became difficult for her. I didn’t expect her to die this young…
ohh. I’m so sorry. She certainly was your good gardening buddy. Rest in peace, Emmy.
You gave her a wonderful home and a wonderful life.
You have many happy memories of Emily. I know you’ll miss such a sweet companion.
Angela,
Sorry for your loss of Emily – she looked like a sweet, fun kitty. Ten years is too young to die. How nice the two of you found each other. It looks like you gave her a happy life. And what great photos to remember her by – the one of her sleeping on her back, in the window box is priceless. RIP, Emily.
I’m sorry Angela.
Angela, I’m so sorry for your loss of Emily. You shared her antics and beauty with all of us. How fine, to honor a fellow creature in that way.
I must say, sad though the reason, I’m very glad to see you posting again. I expect you’ve been through quite a transition, but am hoping you are reconnecting with your strong self and with how the simple-but-complex world and work of gardening can heal the human spirit. We’ve missed your blog posts. Welcome home.

Sorry to hear the sad news…Dad
So sorry to read this.
I am sorry for your lose. What a wonderful cat.
What a beautiful and sweet kitty, I’m so very sorry that you had to go through such a loss.
Having buried my 2 cats this last winter, I know how it feels…I still miss them. Lovely pictures of your little pal.
They just don’t live long enough.
Peace and Love
I have had a lot of cats in my life, but these common, gray-striped tabbies were always the best of the bunch. Essence of cat. I can see why you miss her.
This is the first time I have been to your blog in awhile. This makes me so sad, I feel your grief. So sorry. Only time seems to help with loss like this.
No please…When I first discovered your website some years back it was because of Emily. It was the whole reason why I emailed you to begin with.
I has a sad.
These pictures are so wonderful, I’m so sorry for your loss.
These “basic” gray cats are the best, aren’t they? I have been blessed to have two like this so far. Hope there is one more in my future.
