My Peaceful Valley Farm Supply order arrived a couple days ago. I’ve decided to try Down To Earth’s Bio-Fish fertilizer in my veggie beds. I also need to apply a fast-acting organic liquid food today because my newly planted veggies have settled in but look like they could use a boost.
I also ordered BurnOut II for controlling weeds that have popped up in my crushed rock pathways and in the D.G. surrounding my flagstone patio pavers. BurnOut II is a clove, citric acid and vinegar-based herbicide.
The Coconut Coir Fiber compressed bricks, which expand in water, make a really nice bedding and food for my Can-O-Worms
My late-planted ‘Gold Rush’ yellow zucchini plants already have flower buds. I can’t wait to start using them in stir-fry dishes and on the grill. A little salt, cracked pepper, fresh chopped rosemary and olive oil is all you need.
My tree dahlias are already pretty ginormous.
Orange daylilies are pretty common, but there’s something a little more elegant about this one. Maybe it’s the narrow petals and splash of wine color on the throat. I got this unnamed beauty at POW and it’s just beginning to bloom. Looks great next to my purple butterfly bush.
I have been looking in local nurseries and big box stores for fish fertilizer but can’t seem to find any. Seeing your post I thought I had found a source but when I looked more closely at their website, unfortunately, the Bio-fish fertilizer is trucked only to WA, OR, CA and they don’t seem to mailorder. The $250 first order is also off putting. Oh well, I’ll do an online search. I’m sure they have some somewhere.

What I like about this is that it’s granulated, not powdery. The granules are small, but they don’t create a huge stinky cloud like some dry organic fertilizers. 😉

Thanks for the link Angela. My mother-in-law used the liquid fish fertilizer when she grew tulips. It was pretty stinky but the flowers sure loved it. 😉
How did you like the BurnOut II and the BioFish? I’m contemplating means to nuke the weeds in my new gravel path.
Love the Bio-Fish, but wasn’t as impressed with BurnOut II. The spray attachment on the large ready-to-use bottle crapped out after a couple uses and it didn’t seem to have the same “burn power” that Perfectly Natural Weed & Grass Killer has. Perfectly Natural is another vinegar/clove based herbicide I’ve tried and have come to prefer over BurnOut II.
So, yes to Bio-Fish and yes to Perfectly Natural.
